Jack Wills Inspired Bedroom

Hello There.

My 15 (nearly 16) year old daughter, Jessica, is a little bit of Jack Wills nut. She decided that she wanted her bedroom redecorated.  Her old one was ridiculously tired and still resembled a young, 8 year old girl's bedroom so I agreed.

I trawled google images of Jack Wills store interiors, saved pictures here and there for inspiration and started planning the room in my head for a few months.

Being Vintage in style, Jack Wills was very easy to use and by making lots of ebay furniture purchases and bargain junk shop finds, I was able to transform her room into a Jack Will's inspired bedroom at very little cost.  The most expensive item by far was the Jack Wills Divet cover at £110.  Tell a lie actually, the triple Antique Victorian Wardrobe was £150 off ebay + £60 to hire a van large enough to transport it in.

My favourite and by far best find was the Vintage 1930s dressing table and mirror (see pictures) which was just an absolute bargain at £40 from ebay and I could fit it in my car too :D

I found a Singer sewing machine in a junk shop which I put on top of her existing bookcase for just £10 from a local Antique dealer, which is also where I bought a barley twist chair (£10) for the dressing table and a barley twist vintage trolley, which I used as a bedside table (£25).

The Victorian replica bed was new and just £99 off.............yep, you guess it...EBAY!

I took a Jack Wills Pillowcase to B&Q and the Dulux Paint mixer mixed the paint to the correct colours so that I could paint the stripes.  They came out amazingly well with a lot of precise measurements, a plumb line and a wonderful product called Frog Tape (masking tape which really kept the paint out and the lines poker straight).

The chandelier was just £39.99 from Tesco Direct and the solid wood 50mm white blind was made to measure and just £65 off ebay!

All fantastic bargains.

I'm loving the new room and I hope she does too. xxxxxxx

  1. Hi, I hope you can help. Can you remember the colours that were mixed for you, the name or code would be really useful.

    Thanks

  2. Hmmmm, I don't think I even knew the colours. The person just tried a couple of colours mixed together and compared them to the pillowcase colours that I had taken with me. You don't need to know the colours, just take anything with Pink & Blue Jack Wills stripes into the Dulux Paint mixing centre at B&Q and they'll do the rest for you. xxxx What I will say, is that they mixed 2,5 litres per colour for me and after painting the one and a half feature walls as per the photos, there was still absolutely loads left :( 1 litre per colour would have done I think.

The stripe colours vary quite significantly on various items of Jack Wills Merchandise anyway, for example the pillowcases/duvet cover stripes have a much lighter pink than say the wrapping paper or clothing items so getting the strip colours spot on isn't necessary. xxxxx Hope this helps.

  3. Hi! This room looks fab - I am doing a feature wall in the jack wills stripes and you seem to have got the perfect thickness, just wondered how thick you did each line?
    Thankyou

  4. Hi Emma

Thank you. I measured the ones at Jack Wills Birmingham store and they were exactly 1 foot (12 inches) :)

  6. Hello. You can't buy wallpaper, they've never produced one. I painted stripes exactly 12 inches apart as they did in the shows using fantastic masking tape Called 'frog tape' which ensures no paint bleeds. It too a long time but I think its worth it. I had the paint mixed at B&Q in the dulux mixer section and took a pillowcase so that they could match the colours x
